Police arrest woman in connection with death of Nairobi Hospital director Dr Job Obwaka

Police have arrested a 45-year-old woman as investigations continue into the death of renowned gynecologist and Nairobi Hospital director Dr Job Obwaka.

According to detectives, the woman was the last known person seen with Dr Obwaka before he collapsed in Kitengela on Friday evening. Authorities say she is currently being treated as a person of interest as they work to establish the circumstances leading to his death.

Dr Obwaka, 83, was reportedly on personal errands when he suddenly fell ill. He was rushed to The Nairobi Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival despite efforts by medical staff to revive him.

His body was moved to Lee Funeral Home, where a postmortem examination is expected to determine the exact cause of death. Police have stated that while initial indications suggest possible medical complications, other causes have not been ruled out.

Dr Obwaka was a prominent figure in Kenya’s medical field and a long-serving leader at Nairobi Hospital. His death has drawn widespread attention, coming at a time when he had recently been linked to leadership disputes within the institution.

He and several other directors were facing allegations related to conflict of interest and irregularities in the hospital’s management structures. The accusations centered on claims that some board members were involved in decisions where they had personal or indirect financial interests.
