Saka fires Arsenal into Champions League final

Arsenal have secured a place in the UEFA Champions League final for the first time in two decades after edging Atlético Madrid in a tense semi-final clash.

The North London side booked their ticket with a narrow 1–0 victory in the second leg at the Emirates Stadium, sealing a 2–1 aggregate win following a 1–1 draw in Spain. It was Bukayo Saka who proved decisive, scoring the only goal of the match just before halftime to cap off a disciplined performance from Arsenal.

Mikel Arteta’s men delivered a composed display, combining defensive solidity with tactical control to keep Atlético at bay and protect their slender advantage. The result sends Arsenal into their second-ever Champions League final, their first since 2006.

The journey to the final has highlighted Arsenal’s growth and consistency in Europe this season. They topped their group before overcoming Bayer Leverkusen in the Round of 16, Sporting CP in the quarter-finals, and now Atlético Madrid in the semi-finals.

Speaking after the match, Saka described the achievement as a “beautiful story,” reflecting the significance of the moment for both the team and supporters who have waited years for a return to Europe’s biggest stage.

Arsenal will now turn their focus to the final, set to be played at the Puskás Aréna in Budapest on May 30. They are expected to face either Paris Saint-Germain or Bayern Munich.

Victory would see Arsenal crowned European champions for the first time in their history, capping a remarkable campaign that has already placed them among the continent’s elite once again.
