Sisa accuses MCA Moi of failing to secure maize mill for Lugari Ward

Richard Sisa, who contested the Lugari MCA seat in the 2022 general election, has accused area MCA Grey Moi of failing to secure the Fuka Maize Milling plant, claiming its relocation to Chekalini Ward denied local youths valuable employment opportunities.

Sisa, who has declared his interest in contesting for the seat again in 2027, said the maize milling plant would have created jobs and boosted the local economy had it remained in the ward.

He argued that Moi failed to make sufficient efforts to retain the project, insisting he would have fought to secure it had he been in office. According to Sisa, the MCA demonstrated weak leadership by failing to mobilize senior county government officials and development resources for the benefit of Lugari residents.

He further claimed that Moi’s administration has not been genuine in addressing the ward’s development priorities and has failed to deliver on the promises made during his election campaign.

Sisa attributed the loss of the project to what he described as weak leadership, complacency, and a lack of strategic engagement with decision-makers.

Using a Swahili proverb to emphasize his criticism, he likened the ward’s leadership to “ng’ombe anayekamuliwa ambaye ameibwa; hajui ni lini mwenyewe atakuja ama polisi wataichukua,” suggesting it lacks direction, confidence, and accountability.

“As a leader, you must put the interests of your people first, mobilize resources, and maintain close working relationships with leaders above you so that you can secure development opportunities for your people,” Sisa told WKT.

He maintained that residents of Lugari Ward deserve equitable and balanced development. Sisa also stressed the need to involve the public in decision-making and project implementation to promote inclusivity and a sense of ownership.

Looking ahead to the 2027 elections, Sisa said Lugari residents would ultimately determine the ward’s leadership. He also called on political leaders to embrace mature, issue-based politics focused on improving the lives of citizens.
