Police have launched an operation in Sang’alo following reports of mounting unrest near the Bungoma National Polytechnic, blamed on a group locally known as “Air Force One.”
Information shared with WKT indicates that some former students, who completed their studies at the institution years ago but remained in the area, are allegedly mobilizing groups of youths and provoking current students.
The group is accused of inciting students and planning disturbances that have left the institution and its surroundings in disarray in recent days.

In response, officers have been going from house to house in a bid to flush out the gang, which is said to be terrorizing both students and villagers. Several suspects have so far been arrested and are being held at Bungoma Police Station.
The situation has left many residents and students anxious, with calls for a lasting solution to restore calm around the institution.
Police are yet to release an official statement on the number of suspects in custody or the charges they may face. Further details are expected as investigations continue.
