Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa has called for cooperation with Lugari Member of Parliament Nabii Nabwera, dismissing any differences between them and urging the legislator to work with his administration for the benefit of residents.
Speaking on Sunday during a women’s conference at Marula PAG Church in Lugari Constituency, Barasa said he was ready to work with Nabwera and area members of the County Assembly (MCAs) to advance development in the constituency.
“For those who are here and are friends of Lugari MP Nabii Nabwera, go and tell him that I have no problem with him. Let him come, and we work together for the benefit of Lugari residents. When we have a good working relationship, the people will enjoy development,” he said.
The governor, however, claimed that the six Lugari MCAs had not been cooperating with his administration, adding that he would take responsibility for representing the interests of all six wards.
Barasa cited ongoing development initiatives in the constituency, including the construction of Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) classrooms, as part of his administration’s efforts to improve learning infrastructure.
He also pledged to continue pushing President William Ruto to ensure Western Kenya receives an equitable share of national development projects.
The five-yearly conference brought together more than 400 women to discuss leadership, marriage affairs, and effective church leadership.
During the event, Barasa contributed KSh200,000 towards furnishing the pastor’s office at Mautuma PAG Church, led by Overseer Onzere.
He was accompanied by Kakamega County Ombudsman Nelson Majimbo and other local leaders.
