Mohamed Salah to leave Liverpool at end of season

In a stunning announcement that signals the end of one of the most iconic chapters in Liverpool FC history, Mohamed Salah will leave the club at the conclusion of the 2025–26 season.

The Egyptian forward, who has been a central figure at Anfield since joining from AS Roma in 2017, confirmed the decision in an emotional video message, expressing his gratitude to fans, teammates, and the club.

Salah’s time at Liverpool has been marked by extraordinary achievements. Over nine seasons, he has scored 255 goals in 435 appearances, making him the third-highest scorer in the club’s history. His contributions helped Liverpool secure two Premier League titles, the UEFA Champions League, the FIFA Club World Cup, the UEFA Super Cup, an FA Cup, and two League Cups.

His blistering pace, clinical finishing, and consistency in front of goal earned him the Premier League Golden Boot four times, as well as recognition as one of the world’s top forwards.

Beyond the statistics, Salah’s influence extended off the pitch. He became a global ambassador for Liverpool, inspiring a generation of fans with his professionalism, humility, and dedication. His leadership and experience were crucial during some of Liverpool’s most challenging and triumphant moments, cementing his status as a club legend.

The club has expressed deep appreciation for Salah’s contributions. Liverpool officials described his tenure as “legendary,” emphasizing the transformative impact he had on both the team and the wider football community.

Plans are expected for a special farewell celebration at Anfield later in the season, allowing fans to honor one of the greatest players to ever wear the Liverpool jersey.

While Salah’s future remains uncertain, speculation about his next move is already widespread. Clubs from the Saudi Pro League, Major League Soccer, and top European leagues are reportedly monitoring his situation closely.

Whatever the destination, Salah is expected to continue competing at the highest level and leaving a mark wherever he goes.

As Liverpool prepares for life without one of its most influential stars, questions remain about how the club will adapt and rebuild. Replacing Salah’s goals, leadership, and presence on the pitch will be a significant challenge for manager Jürgen Klopp and the Liverpool squad, but the club remains committed to maintaining its competitive edge in domestic and European competitions.

Salah’s departure marks not just the end of a player’s tenure but the closing of a defining era for Liverpool, one that brought unparalleled excitement, record-breaking performances, and lasting memories for fans worldwide.
