Shock as Kakamega County Polytechnic principal found dead in Kisumu

Shock and grief have gripped sections of the public following reports of the death of Carolyn Kamete, popularly known as Madam Caro, the Principal of Kakamega County National Polytechnic.

Information circulating widely on social media indicates that her body was discovered along the shores of Lake Victoria near Kisumu Port under unclear circumstances.

The body is reportedly being held at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary, although WKT could not immediately confirm this.

Initial online posts had claimed that the deceased had taken her own life due to alleged family pressures. However, subsequent reports disputed this narrative, alleging that she may have been abducted prior to her death.

WKT understands that these claims remain unverified.

A post shared in a popular Facebook group described the discovery of an unidentified woman’s body at the lakeshore, noting that authorities had yet to establish her identity or the circumstances leading to her death at the time. This has since been linked to Madam Caro’s case.

Madam Caro was widely respected for her leadership and contribution to technical education in Kakamega County. Her reported death has sparked an outpouring of condolences from students, colleagues, and members of the public.
