A security guard was killed and three other people left with life-threatening injuries after suspected thugs raided Club Solutions in Sang’alo, Bungoma County, in a daring early morning attack.
The incident occurred at around 5am at the club, which is located barely 100 metres from a police station, raising concerns over security in the area. According to reports, the attackers struck at the time a cleaner was reporting to work, suggesting they may have deliberately chosen the hour to find the premises more vulnerable.
Preliminary information indicates the gang had earlier attempted to break into the club but failed to breach its steel doors and windows. They are believed to have returned later, launching a violent assault that left one watchman dead on the spot.
During the attack, a second watchman, the cleaner and her husband were viciously assaulted, sustaining serious injuries. The three were rushed to hospital, where they are currently fighting for their lives.
The attackers reportedly made away with cash and other valuables before fleeing the scene.
Police have launched investigations into the incident and are pursuing leads to identify and apprehend the suspects.
The shocking attack, so close to a police station, has sparked outrage among residents, who are now questioning the effectiveness of security measures in the area.
