Kaimosi College receives charter to become full-fledged university

President Uhuru Kenyatta has awarded the university a full charter.

Vihiga County will boast of its first chartered university after President Uhuru Kenyatta awarded Kaimosi Friends University College (Kafuco) one.

The President gave the institution, along with eight other colleges, a mandate to operate as a full-fledged university.

Kafuco principal Mr. Jack Nandi said the Commission for University Education (CUE) inspected the college before it was awarded a charter a month ago.

“We are happy for the developments and look forward to the charter. We are ready for the transformation,” Nandi said.

The college will officially receive the charter today in State House, Nairobi, in a function to be attended by education officials.

Kafuco was established in 2014 under the leadership of Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology.

Other institutions that will be awarded charters are Alupe in Busia County, Kenya Defense Forces College and Tharaka Nithi College, among others.
