Lukhokho Girls reign supreme at Matete Sub-County KSSSA 2026 Games with five titles

Lukhokho Girls Friends School emerged as one of the standout performers at the Matete Sub-County KSSSA 2026 Term Two Games, clinching five titles as the competition concluded on Sunday at Kivaywa Boys High School.

The school dominated several disciplines, winning championships in girls’ football, basketball, badminton, lawn tennis, and table tennis to secure qualification for the county championships set to take place in Mumias from June 17 to June 20, 2026.

Lukhokho Girls also impressed in volleyball, where they reached the final after eliminating Lwandeti DEB in the semi-finals. However, their hopes of lifting another title were dashed after suffering a 3-1 defeat to SA Mayoyo Senior School, who emerged as the Matete Sub-County champions in both volleyball and netball.

In girls’ football, Lukhokho displayed a commanding performance throughout the tournament to emerge champions and book a place at the county games. Their dominance extended to indoor and racket games, with the school producing six qualifiers in badminton, six in lawn tennis, and two in table tennis.

Speaking after the tournament, Lukhokho Girls Principal Madam Metrine Wamalwa lauded the coaches, players, and supporters for their commitment and teamwork, saying the success was a result of discipline and dedication.

“I sincerely thank our coaches for their passion, unity, and discipline in nurturing talents among our girls. To our fans, we are extremely grateful for your unwavering support and love for school games. Your encouragement inspires us to keep striving for excellence. At Lukhokho, we learn and shine,” she said.

Meanwhile, Kivaywa Boys High School secured qualification to the county championships in boys’ football after edging out Lwandeti DEB 1-0 in a closely contested final.
