A man from Luweero in Uganda found himself standing before a court of law for a sinister plot with his mistress to bribe a medical doctor so as to kill his wife through a medical procedure.
The man, Friday Musoke and his lover Enid Kanyonyozi allegedly conducted Dr. Onesmus Bainomugisha at his facility for the service they were willing to pay Ush5 million (KSh174,000).
However, Dr. Bainomugisha had no intention of playing along. Instead, he recorded their conversation and alerted the authorities, determined to save the life of the unsuspecting victim.
As the shocking details of the scheme were laid bare in court, the doctor recounted his interaction with the accused. He had probed Musoke about his motives, questioning why he had chosen the medical procedure over other more violent means of carrying out the murder. Musoke had explained that he wanted to avoid any suspicion that could arise from a more overt attack.
“I did not only act professionally but had deep pain to save the life of this mother by any means through contacting the authorities. I knew that if I simply turned away the suspects, they could possibly find alternative means of executing the mission since they were already determined to have the woman killed,” Bainomugisha told the court on Monday.
“During our discussion, which I secretly recorded, I asked Musoke why he wanted to kill his wife and why he had chosen the medical procedure and not any other means including the use of the gun,” the doctor said.
In the recorded conversation, Musoke is said to have accused his wife of making his life difficult by ‘seizing’ all his powers as head of the family and turning their four children against him.
“I also inquired about his relationship with Enid Kanyonyozi and how sure he was that she would not disclose the deal to a third party. Musoke explained that he trusted Kanyonyozi,” Bainomugisha added.
Court documents revealed that on December 29, 2022, Kanyonyozi visited Global Medical Centre to deliver part of the money, Sh500,000, as first instalment.
Musoke the called the doctor a day later about his plan to use chloroform to render his wife unconscious and rush him to hospital.
Mr. Musoke was then arrested by the Police Flying Squad on his way to throwing his wife to unconsciousness.
