Members of Vihiga County Assembly (MCAs) will receive Sh500 million as ward development funds after Vihiga Governor Wilber Khasilwa Ottichilo assented to the Vihiga County Appropriations Bill 2023 that contains the allocation.
Each ward will receive Sh20 million, and each MCA will identify projects they want to implement through public participation.
Governor Ottichilo said the money will not be handled directly by the MCAs, but all projects presented by the MCAs will be implemented by the executive.
“We have allocated Sh500 million in ward development funds to enable the development of all our wards. The MCAs will have to identify the projects they want, which will be executed by the executive, not them handling the funds,” said Ottichilo.
He emphasized that the allocation of ward development funds will enable all wards to get equal county resources.
