The County Government of Kakamega will establish a rescue center at Kaburengu along the Eldoret-Webuye highway as one of the measures to reduce deaths from the constant accidents at the hotspot.
Deputy Governor Ayub Savula revealed the plan to come up with the facility, which he said would be a step ahead in finding a lasting solution to the road carnage at the deadly spot.
“Many lives have been lost on this road. Hundreds of people. As Kakamega County, we are planning to have an accident rescue facility here to curb perennial accidents,” he said.
Savula was speaking during a fundraiser at St. Charles Lwanga Koromaiti Dispensary in Chekalini Ward in Lugari Sub-County.
The Kaburengu junction has experienced three accidents this year alone, the latest claiming the lives of students.
