Officers from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) have arrested a traffic police officer for allegedly impounding a vehicle and demanding a “forgiveness fee” to release it.
The cop, Dennis Marunga Monyenye, based at the Kakamega Police Station, was arrested after the driver notified the EACC after he was unable to pay.
The suspected cop was taken to the Bungoma Police Station as officers launched investigations into the matter.
EACC said it has received several complaints about the cop, commonly known as “Denno”, who is notorious for impounding vehicles without booking them and demanding bribes before releasing them.
