Woman hospitalised after brutal attack by ex-partner in Bungoma

A woman from Bungoma County is fighting for her life after she was reportedly attacked by a man believed to be her former partner.

The victim, Marystella Kong’ani, a health worker, was assaulted at her home on Wednesday night shortly after returning for the evening. Reports indicate that the suspect forcefully entered the house through a window before confronting her inside.

According to a witness who was present, the situation escalated quickly into violence. Efforts to stop the attacker were unsuccessful, as he allegedly became aggressive toward anyone who tried to intervene. 

The suspect is said to have previously been known to the family and had maintained contact with the victim for some time.

During the incident, the attacker reportedly grabbed a phone before fleeing the scene, leaving the woman seriously injured. Neighbours who responded to the commotion found that the suspect had already escaped.

The victim was rushed to a medical facility and later transferred to a hospital in Kisumu, where she is currently receiving treatment.

The matter has since been reported to the police in Bungoma, with authorities confirming that investigations are underway as efforts to track down the suspect continue.
