Cleo Malala’s son Leon Major Malala declares bid for Lurambi MP seat in 2027

Leon Major Malala, the son of DCP Deputy Party Leader Cleophas Malala, has announced his intention to contest for the Lurambi Member of Parliament seat in the 2027 general election.

The 20-year-old made the declaration while speaking in the presence of his father, who serves as deputy party leader of the DCP. Leon said his decision to enter politics is driven by the current state of the country, dismissing claims that his ambition is influenced by his father’s political career.

“I am not vying because I aspire to be a politician, not even because of my father, but because of the situation in the country,” he said.

Leon, who has drawn attention for his striking resemblance in speech and style to his father, has recently been active in political circles. He has been accompanying Cleophas Malala to various United Opposition campaign rallies across the country.

During his remarks, Leon also criticized William Ruto, accusing the government of using force to suppress dissenting voices.

His declaration sets the stage for what could be a closely watched political contest in Lurambi, with the young aspirant positioning himself as part of a new generation seeking leadership roles ahead of the 2027 polls.
