A family in Indagano village in Marakusi Ward, Lugari Sub-County, is mourning the death of their 20-year-old kin who drowned in the Nzoia River and whose body was retrieved today.

The deceased, Daniel Liang’ung’u, is said to have left home on Wednesday with friends towards the river before the tragedy struck.

His father, Enos Musese, told West FM’s Joseph Amunya Otieno that Daniel, who sat his KCPE 2021 exams at Mugumu Primary School, was overpowered by the swollen river while swimming.

His friends disappeared without informing anybody after discovering the incident. His family found out that he had drowned after he failed to show up home and found his clothes near the river on Thursday.

His body has been retrieved by the Kenya Red Cross Lugari branch divers, a kilometer away from where his clothes were found.

The body, which was handed over to Lumakanda Police Station officers, is now lying at the Kimbilio Mortuary in Uasin Gishu County.
