As Kenyans complain that the price of fuel has doubled in the recent past, the precious commodity is now being used to fly planes.
According to CNN, the A380 Airbus, a plane owned by a French company, completed its three-hour test flight at Blagnac Airport in Toulouse on March 25th after being powered by a sustainable aviation fuel made (SAF) of used cooking oil and waste fats.
The international outlet reports that the airbus company is working on increasing the use of SAF to achieve the company’s ambition of NetZero carbon emissions by 2050.
According to the report, flying planes on SAF could result in between 53 and 70 percent of the carbon reduction required to meet that target.
The A380 Airbus is the world’s largest airplane, whose fortune has declined in the past years because of its being less efficient than more modern long-range airplanes.
The fascinating innovation aims at making flying more environmentally friendly.
