A three-months-old baby has been rescued after it was found dumped in a church bathroom in Musutsu Village in Lumakanda Location, Lugari Sub-county, with a note written by charcoal on a carton box reading “Mark Gitau, Mama Ashley.”
West FM reported that baby was found neatly wrapped in a towel in the washroom of the Salvation Army Mukuyu Corps by the church priest, Gerrishom Kidiya, who could not ascertain circumstances surrounding the incident.
The pastor and his wife had been away the whole day on an official function when they came back home to the shock of finding a kid breathing in the church’s bathroom.
“I stumbled upon the baby in the bathroom after returning from the graduation ceremony. There was a piece of carton box written on it using charcoal and placed beside the baby. The writings read, “Mark Gitau, Mama Ashley,” the pastor said as reported by West FM.
Residents who flocked the scene could not identify the baby nor its owner.
The baby was taken away by Maendeleo ya Wanawake leader in the region, Margaret Munanda and taken to Lumakanda Police Station before being taken to Lumakanda County Hospital.
