Three pupils in Shikambi, Kakamega County, were ambushed by three men on their way to school at around 5:00 a.m. and robbed of their books and school uniforms.
The three were forced to go back home naked despite the freezing morning cold.
According to the mother of one of them, the boys were attacked and taken to a coffee plantation, where they were robbed of everything they had, including shoes and stationery, and told to rush back home.
The place where the learners were ambushed, known as Kahawa Estate, has been marked as a hotspot where residents have lost their property including phones to thugs in the past.
Residents are now calling upon relevant agencies to enforce security in the region and teachers to adhere to the Ministry of Education directive ordering classes to be opened at 8.00 am.
