At least 15 men are feared dead after a goldmine collapsed in Sigalagala Village in Kakamega County this morning.
The National Police Service (NPS) has confirmed that seven are still trapped under the rubble but eight have been rescued and rushed to the Kakamega General Hospital and are responding well to treatment.
“This morning at around 2 a.m., a goldmine caved in, burying 15 young men in Sigalagala Village in Kakamega County. NPS Officers and County Government Officers, together with emergency response teams from the County, Red Cross, and the locals, are on the scene helping with the rescue mission,” read a statement from the NPS.
