The County Government of Kakamega is planning to set up a maize milling plant at Lugari Station in Lugari Sub-County.
This was made public by Deputy Governor and former Lugari MP Ayub Savula during his address to mourners last Saturday at the burial of Rtd. Eng. Renson Manyengo in Mufutu village.
Savula said the factory will provide a ready market for maize farmers in the northern region of the county as part of the wealth creation and social development agenda spearheaded by Governor Fernandes Barasa.
On upgrading the Lumakanda-Manyonyi Road to bitumen standards, the Deputy Governor said he would fast-track the process, which has already commenced.
Savula said he is also working to elevate Lumakanda town to municipality status.
