Concerns as 6,000 in Lugari fail to go for the second dose

Concerns are rising as it turns out that at least 6,000 people from Lugari Sub-county in Kakamega County have not gone for their second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Sub-county public health officer Patrick Kegode revealed that Lugari is one of the sub-counties recording the lowest number of people getting vaccinated. Only 9,000 have been fully vaccinated out of the 91,000 targeted by the end of last year.

Kegode urges those who have skipped the second dose to report to centers for help in order to avoid complications.

“We have the data of those who failed the second dose, which totals over 6,000 people. I only appeal to them to visit our health centers within the sub-county for further advice,” he said.

The health officer further said that mobilization stakeholders forums have been launched in Mautuma, Lugari, Chevaywa, Lwandeti, Lumakanda, and Chekalini wards in a massive campaign to reach the target.

He noted that the Health Covid-19 Vaccination team is available to visit any organized group of people anywhere who are in need of the vaccine.

“Organize yourself and call us; we shall come with the vaccines,” he said.
