Nabwera’s bodyguard denies threatening MCA Charles Anyona

The two had a confrontation at an event convened by Kakamega Women Representative Elsie Muhanda on Friday to launch of water tanks for schools.

Lugari MP’s bodyguard, Lordrick Wanjala, alias Likhanga Junior, has denied threatening Mautuma Ward MCA Charles Anyona.

Wanjala claimed it was the MCA who wronged him after he insulted him at an event convened by Kakamega Women Rep. Elsie Muhanda.

“Maybe he became furious after I failed to greet him when he arrived. I couldn’t even because his car’s windows were closed, and I went ahead to greet Balex (Chebaywa MCA). He is the one who told Balex to tell me to stop talking foul about him and then started insulting me, but I kept quiet,” he said.

Mr. Anyona recorded a statement with the police on Friday, claiming that his life is in danger after an altercation with his bodyguard.

“He has done this openly in front of my fellow MCAs. Let me quote his statement: ‘Nitakufinya upende usipende.’” The MCA said.

In a call with the Western Kenya Times, the leader dismissed claims that no love is lost between him and the MP and accused his supporters of fueling a non-existent beef.

“Me and the MP are good friends. We always involve each other in our activities. The claim that we are on bad terms is not true, and I believe what happened today is because his supporters hold a grudge that is unnecessary,” he said.

Likhanga Junior said he is ready to appear before the police in case he is summoned.
