Kakamega Homeboyz players, officials, and fans lit Kakamega town in yellow as they paraded their 2023 FKF Cup trophy in jubilation.
The players moved on a massive truck, waving to supporters who came out in their hundreds to salute their champions following their hard-earned 1-0 win against Tusker FC in the FKF Mozzart Bet Cup final at the Moi International Sports Centre in Kasarani on Saturday.
Kevin Amwayi scored the only goal to earn his team an important victory as well as a chance to represent Kenya in the CAF Confederation Cup next year.
The team was also awarded Sh2 million in addition to the trophy and medals.
The town turned into a sea of yellow, with fans waving flags and cheering with passion as the truck snaked through and made stops at Sigalagala and Khayega towns, where the celebrations reached fever pitch.
They later were joined by Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa.
Their journey to victory included defeating AFC Leopards in the semifinals, Kariobangi Sharks in the quarterfinals, and Gor Mahia in the Round of 16.
