Kakamega High School’s appeal to have rival Musingu High disqualified for fielding an ineligible player during their secondary school county semi-final clash has been thrown out.
The Green Commanods claimed that the Scorpions won the match unfairly after fielding Brian, who wore jersey number 22, whom they claimed is not a student of the school.
They claimed Brian plays for Kisumu-based club Bayerl Chipolopolo and is a student at Kasagam Secondary School.
A letter signed by Kakamega County Director of Education Dickson Ogonya indicated that the appeal was rejected on many grounds.
“The appeal did not mention the school Kakamega High was appealing against, and the appeal letter was not dated and signed by the affiliate body. The panel also found several Brians but could not ascertain the right Brian. The letter was not served to the respondents as well,” read the letter in part.
The statement further asserted that the investigation could not go beyond the appeal’s content and that “the status quo remains.”
Musingu beat Kakamega in post-match penalties, before winning against Shanderema in the finals to book a place in the regionals.
