President William Ruto is expected to visit Bungoma County on Sunday for interdenominational prayers and the launch of various projects.
Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka has confirmed that the President will visit the county as a way of thanking residents for their overwhelming support in the August 9, 2022 election.
“People should not create propaganda on the President’s visit to Bungoma; this is just a way of thanking the people of Bungoma and launching projects,” Lusaka said.
Lusaka has dismissed claims in a section of the media that there are divisions among Western Kenyan leaders ahead of the visit.
“I’m the county boss and at the center of all plans concerning the president’s visit. I have not heard any leader complain about the president’s tour. Those claiming in the media that we are divided must be having a problem,” he said.
National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula hosted leaders from the Mulembe community on Sunday for lengthy talks ahead of the visit.
Ruto is expected to attend prayers at Kiwanja Ndege before proceeding to launch the County Assembly building and the 300-bed capacity maternity wing at Bungoma County Referral Hospital.
The President will also launch the construction of an aggregated industrial park at Sangalo, to which both the county and national governments have contributed an equal amount of the total Sh500 million.
In addition to that, Ruto is expected to launch Bungoma TTI in Tongaren Constituency and visit the ailing Nzoia Sugar Company to offer a solution on Monday.
Governor Lusaka noted that the visit will facilitate the construction of several roads in the county that are earmarked for tarmacking.
