Mark Musumba, a 27-year-old businessman from Mbakalu Ward in Bungoma County, is in a critical condition after he was viciously stabbed multiple times on his way home from Lugari the previous evening.
The assailant, an unidentified shirtless man, ambushed Mark, alias Shebe, near the River Nzoia bridge at Lunyito Village in Lugari Sub-County. Employing a sharp tool suspected to be a knife, the attacker inflicted several stab wounds on him, leaving him severely injured.
Mark’s mother, Asmin Rajab, recounted the harrowing incident, revealing that the assailant dragged her son into a nearby forest after the brutal assault. He then robbed him of Sh9,000 before making a swift escape.
After the traumatic ordeal, Mark managed to drag himself back to the road, where he sought help from a passing Good Samaritan who rushed him to a nearby health center, where Mark received immediate first aid.
The victim was then transferred to the St. Charles Koromaiti Dispensary for further medical attention.
His wounds were dressed, and the bleeding was put under control.
The young businessman, who, according to the mother, used to work as a driver for former Lugari Ward MCA aspirant William Makhalanya, is now recovering at home.
The incident is under investigation by officers from Frank’s Police Station with hopes that the suspect will be apprehended.
