Eston Kilugu, a patient of cancer from Marakusi in Lugari Ward in Lugari Sub-County, Kakamega County, is appealing for help to take his two deaf daughters to school.
The two hearing-impared children, Risper Khaveko and Laura Asiyo, were called to join St. Brigid Akolet Secondary School in Busia County after scoring 258 and 222 marks respectively in the KCSE 2022.
Risper Khaveko and Laura Asiyo, the hearing-impaired siblings, excelled in the KCSE 2022, scoring 258 and 222 marks respectively. They have been accepted to St. Brigid Akolet Secondary School in Busia County and are expected to join during Form One admissions this month.
Eston, a 65-year-old father of seven, cannot raise money to provide for his family due to his rectum cancer condition discovered in November 2022. He says he needs to raise Sh86,000 to cover school fees and essential supplies for the two girls.
“I require Sh18,000 per child for school fees and Sh25,000 per child for upkeep,” explains the father, currently undergoing chemotherapy at the Texas Cancer Centre in Nairobi after a tumor removal operation at Kiambu Level V Hospital and a series of medical visits at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret.
Eston’s wife, Fridah Alwang’a, 51, a housewife, lacks a reliable means of supporting the family. The family faces significant challenges, and for the daughters’ commendable academic achievements given their condition, they plea for assistance.
“I am reaching out to well-wishers to help my two daughters pursue their education and improve their lives,” Eston’s wife earnestly appeals.
