Trans Nzoia school closed after decomposing body of pupil was found in classroom

A primary school in Kiminini, Trans Nzoia County, has been closed after decomposing body of a pupil was found in a classroom.

The shocking incident was discovered at Mogoyet Primary School days after schools were reopened for the first term of 2024.

Teachers had reported of a foul smell emanating from one of the ECDE classrooms, which led to a search that revealed the rotting body of a Grade Six pupil.

It was also discovered that the female pupil, who had just completed her Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) had been reported missing two months ago.

“The school management had to look for someone to fumigate and was shocked to learn that it was a human body.

“The shock and grief within the community IS palpable as they grapple with the realisation that a young life was lost under mysterious circumstances within the confines of the school,” one parent said as reported by The Standard.

Kiminini OCPD John Onditi said that investigations on the incident had kicked off.

“We will launch investigations to know when 12-year-old Triza Naliaka was killed, who killed her, and the motive behind the inhumane killing,” the police boss said.
