Police in Kitale are investigating an incident in which three male adults were burned beyond recognition in the Nyota area of Tuwani Location.
Trans Nzoia West OCPD Patrick Lobolia, who spoke to the Western Kenya Times, confirmed that the incident happened on Tuesday night through mob justice.
Lobolia said members reacted to the gang following the insecurity cases that had mushroomed in the area of Tuwani, where residents have been terrorised several times at night. This prompted residents to be watchful and they managed to arrest and burn the suspects.
During the incident, he added, a motorcycle with the registration number KMFM Honda, which was being used by the suspects, was also burned completely.
Some weapons were also found on the suspects.
The OCPD said police responded quickly after they got a tip from their source, and by the time they arrived at the scene, the suspects were already dead.
Their bodies were collected and taken to the Kitale County Referral Hospital Mortuary awaiting a DNA test that would help their families identify them.
