A man in Matisi Location, Kitale, Trans Nzoia County, has shocked many after he ate a raw snake in public.
John Wafula, 35, says he finds snake meat sweet compared to ordinary ones from butcheries.
”Nowadays, the cost of living is very expensive. Why buy meat from the butchery when I can get snakes from the bushes around me? In fact, snake meat is very sweet compared to other meat we get from the butcheries around here. Since I started eating snakes, I have never experienced any side effects, ” said the courageous Wafula.
Wafula added that he keeps on timing snakes while relaxing in the bush. He uses sticks to kill them and holds the neck where he squeezes the poison out of the flesh before he prepares to eat.
Many African cultures associate snakes with witchcraft, but for Wafula, it is something normal.
Many think Wafula is insane.
In countries like China, snakes are delicacies served in hotels just like any other meat.
