A man in Senyende Village of Shinyalu Sub-County, Kakamega County, is nursing injuries after an irate mob descended on him for stabbing his brother to death over allegations that he had stolen his chicken.
Bonventure Lumwachi, 23, is said to have stabbed his brother, Augustine Muhanga, on the chest on Saturday night, according to an eyewitness, Ms. Margaret Isutsa.
“Bonventure suspected that one of his chickens had got lost and was suspecting his brother Augustine had stolen it. After searching for his chicken, we had decided to give him another one but he was still angry,” Ms. Isutsa said.
Other neighbors said they found Muhanga writhing in pain when they responded to the commotion, and that he was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.
Shinyalu OCPD, while confirming the incident, said the suspect was descended on by the angry neighbors and he is receiving treatment at the Kakamega County Referal Hospital.
He will be charged once he is discharged.
