Lumakanda: Bar owner stabs customer to death for touching barmaid

The bar owner turned wild after one customer made advances on his waitress.

A bar owner in Kona Mbaya Village of Lumakanda, Lugari Sub-County, stabbed a customer to death after he made contact with a barmaid in the pub last week.

The barmaid was serving drinks to three male customers when the deceased, Emeli Shikanda, allegedly tried to touch her before the owner of the wines and spirits joint, Emmanuel Shisokhe, pounced on him, stabbed him several times, and killed him on the spot.

The other two customers survived injuries that resulted from the altercation.

While confirming the incident, Lugari Sub-County OCPD Bernard Ngungu said that one of the deceased’s friends, Elly Luviga, suffered head injuries after he tried to rescue his friend from the bar owner’s brutal attack.

Luviga was rushed to Lumakanda County Hospital before he was transferred to Kakamega County Referral Hospital ‘under tight security’.

The deceased’s body was taken to Chebaywa Mortuary in Uasin Gishu County as police launch investigations into the incident.
