Former Westlands MP Fred Gumo has said reviving the Chiefs ACT is the best solution to reduce insecurity brought by careless utterances by politicians across the country.
Speaking to the press in Kitale. Gumo said during Jomo Kenyatta and Daniel Moi governments, chiefs were empowered with Administration Police Officers and cases of insecurity were not as rampant as witnessed these days.
Gumo said since the Chiefs ACT was removed, the insecurity cases have increased all over with youths gangs terrorizing innocent Kenyans.
He also asked the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) to wake up and take action against leaders who threaten national security through hate speech. Gumo was referring to the abusive language vomited against Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and CS Water Eugine Wamalwa over the weekend in Kitale by some leaders from Uasin Gishu County associated with UDA.
He challenged Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago and Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi to respect Raila Odinga. Gumo appealed to Kenyans to vote for Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya Alliance for the betterment of the country.
