The granite factory project in Luanda Sub-County, Vihiga County, will be ready by December this year for the production of gravel and other products, according to the contractor in charge of the long-overdue project.
The county governor, Dr. Wilberforce Ottichilo, while touring the site at Ebuyangu on Thursday, said the project will transform the socio-economic status of residents and harness the harvesting of rocks that form a third of Vihiga’s land mass.
The County Government of Vhiga donated 10 acres of land to the National Government in 2021. The NG has brought in a foreign investor to implement the project worth Sh50 million.
Dr. Ottichilo thanked President Uhuru Kenyatta for fulfilling his pledge to establish the factory, which will offer employment opportunities to residents and also produce granite products such as terrazzo and tiles for sale.
