A 40-year-old man from Matete Location in Lugari Sub-county has been arrested for defiling his 9-year-old girl.
Maurice Gabriel Wanjala, the suspect, is accused of continuously abusing her daughter sexually after separating with his wife and renting a house at Matete Market, according to area sub-chief Alex Goricho.
“They had been staying together in their rural home in Lukova Village, Kiliboti Sub-location before they separated with his wife. His wife remarried to another man in Chenjeni, leaving him with the Children,” he said.

The young girl revealed her father’s heinous act during a session with government officers and non-governmental organizations officials held at Chevaywa Primary School.
The girl, after the officers requested them to open up on the challenges facing them, revealed that her father had been defiling her.
A medical test carried out afterward revealed that she had been defiled several times.
“Instead of a girl going back home, we requested one of her female teachers to go with the girl. The following day, her father went to school to see if she was there. That is when Matete Police Station officers closed in on him,” Mr. Goricho said.
