Omanyala wins Kenya first Commonwealth gold

Africa’s fastest man, Ferdinand Omanyala, has won Kenya its first gold ever in the Commonwealth Games ongoing in Birmingham, England.

Omanyala beat the windy situation to clock a 10.02 seconds lead ahead of defending champion Akani Simbine of South Africa who finished at 10.13 seconds and Yukun Abeykoon who emerged third at 10.14seconds.

This comes barely a week after Omanyala bowed out of the semis in the recently concluded World Athletics Championships in Oregon, USA.
