Police are searching for Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa over a shooting incident that left a personal assistant to his opponent dead.
Bungoma head of DCI Joseph Ondoro said that Barasa and his DAP-K rival Brian Khaemba were involved in an argument before the former left for his car at Chebukwabi polling station.
“Barasa followed him in the company of four men and ordered them not to allow him (Khaemba) to leave the place but Khaemba’s driver Joshua Nasokho defied the order and ignited the vehicle,” said Ondoro.
According to a police report, Barasa took out a pistol and shot the aide on the forehead, killing him on the spot. He was pronounced dead upon arrival at Kimilili Sub-county hospital.
Barasa had allegedly taken off after the incident.
