Tension is brewing up after a convoy belonging to Nabii Nabwera, who is waiting to be crowned Lugari MP in the just concluded elections, has been pelted with stones near the home of his opponent Isaac Andabwa at Manyonyi Village in Lugari Ward, Lugari Constituency.
Nabii’s supporter, who was part of the convoy of around 15 vehicles, has confirmed the apparent MP is safe but a child of the outgoing MP, Ayub Savula, was aimed with a stone and was severely injured on the head.
The child was among the onlookers.
Some people who were in the vehicles in the convoy have also been injured.
The supporter has said that goons hurling stones from Mr. Andabwa’s compound attacked their convoy of vehicles coming from Lumakanda heading to Mr. Nabwera’s home.
“We have been forced to make a sudden stop at the junction near Ayub Savula’s home. Our fleet of vehicles moving smoothly was suddenly surprised by a rain of stones coming from Andabwa’s compound. Our leader is safe but a stone has seriously injured the child of the outgoing MP,” she said.
The convoy was carrying Nabii’s supporters heading to a celebration at his home after provisional results showed that he is way ahead of his opponents.
