Residents of Ebunyanga Village in Khayega, Kakamega County have been left in shock after a man allegedly committed suicide following a domestic squabble.
The body of the man identified as Ezra Skim was spotted by passers-by hanging from a rope by the neck on a tree on the roadside on Tuesday morning, just after he was reported missing the previous evening after complaining of domestic abuse and denial of conjugal rights.
Khayega OCS Elizabeth Kagehi confirmed the incident and urged residents to find alternative measures of solving disputes.
His wife Maximila Anyika said they had retired to bed when her husband stormed out of the house and never came back.
The deceased’s sister Jetina Tegeno confirmed that her brother had accused his wife of domestic abuse before he met his death.
The body of the deceased was taken to Mukumu Mortuary for post-mortem analysis as burial arrangements continue.
