Kakamega County Governor-elect Fernandes Barasa has responded to his deputy Ayub Savula’s remarks that they will share the government by half.
Savula, through his Twitter account, caused a public stir after claiming that the post-election agreement between them was that he shelves his gubernatorial ambition in favor of Barasa on the condition that they will share government equally.
Mr. Barasa, in a video shared on his Twitter account, responded to the remarks and said that he and his deputy will form one government.
“Mimi na Mheshimiwa Ayub Savula we are going to form the government together, so there will be only one government,” he said.
Through its Twitter account, Savula’s DAP-K party, in which he is the deputy party leader, distanced itself from his remarks and emphasized that the Kakamega County Government is intact.
“As a coalition partner, we shall support @BarasaFernandes to deliver to Kakamega County people on his promises pegged on #MaendeleoNaUsawa devoid of sideshows and blackmails. We have an agreement to deliver devolution fruits to the people after the swearing-in on Thursday,” a tweet on its handle read.
