The man says he used all his money in contesting for an elective seat but lost.

A youthful politician from Bungoma County has revealed how he suffered heartbreak and became broke after using all his Helb loan to vie for an elective seat but still lost.

Kinaibei Stephen, 24, a holder of a bachelor’s degree in Education from Laikipia University, said he spent KSh186,315 to try his luck at the Kanduyi parliamentary seat in the August 9 election but still lost in the race that was won by John Makali of Ford-Kenya.

“Despite all efforts, my competitors overpowered me since they had a lot of money. I even sold my cows to raise my money for the campaigns, but in the end, I only managed to get 156 votes in the race,” he said.

Stephen is now calling upon the government to help him secure any job, saying life has become too difficult for him.
