Kakamega County senatorial seat candidate in the August 9 election, Brian Lishenga, and three others have moved to court to stop the election of the Kakamega County Assembly Speaker slated for today.
Dr. Brian Lishenga, Hon. Justus Kizito Mugali, and Lawyer Leonard Shimaka, while speaking to journalists today in Kakamega, alleged that they were barred from accessing the compound of the County Assembly after their names were found missing in the list of candidates.
“We are opposed to that idea because one, we are not aware there’s any list where our names are missing. There’s no official communication, nobody has said anything to me, nobody has told me that I have not met any criteria,” Mr. Lishenga said.
He added that he presented his papers on Monday and that all items required on the checklist were ascertained to be there and he was not requested for anything.
Dr. Lishenga said he has already given the institution to his lawyers to file a case in court to stop the process.
Those cleared to vie include former Speaker Mourice Buluma, former MCA Kennedy Kilakwe and Lawyer James Namatsi.
