Former Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala missed the Youth Affairs and Sports Cabinet Secretary post in the list of government officials announced yesterday by President William Ruto.
Malala, who lost in the Kakamega gubernatorial race and was expected by many to take up the sports ministry from outgoing CS Amina Mohamed, failed to feature in the list of the new ministers, despite being a close ally of President William Ruto and ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi, who was appointed the Prime CS.
The post was however awarded to former Budalangi MP Ababu Namwamba, to the surprise of many.
All eyes are now on the Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) and Permanent Secretary (PS) posts to see if Malala will feature in any, perhaps in the Sports ministry.
