It was a happy moment for Liz Nelima, a student from Minyali Village, after the Mautuma Ward’s First Lady, Pamela Anyona, sponsored her fees to join Form One at St. Augustine Mixed Secondary School.
The young 13-year-old girl scored 303 marks at Macho Muslim Primary School in the KCPE 2022 but was stranded for lacking fees to join secondary school since her parents lack a stable source of income.
The intervention by Ms. Anyona came in handy for her and she can now happily join others as she begins a new journey in secondary school.
“I am happy to join Form One. It was not easy, but I thank Mama Pamela for her kind heart. I will work hard in class,” the overjoyed girl told the Western Kenya Times.
Mr. Anyona said taking the girl to school was among some of the initiatives she had taken to help children from vulnerable families achieve their dreams.
“In this 21st century, education is the key and door opener to opportunities. Let us make sure our kids have access to education and make their future promising,” she concluded.
