A mother of four children from Milembe Village in Lugari Ward, Lugari Sub-County, has revealed that she is ready to continue with her studies after scoring 316 marks in the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE).
Pionze Rida, 27, did her KCPE in 2021 at Mahiga Primary School and emerged the second-best in her class. She said she wants to enroll for secondary education, with her favorite school being St. Augustine Mlimani Mixed Day and Borading in Lugari Constituency.
Ms. Rida revealed that she was married to a 75-year-old man since she was a teenager and she has suffered mistreatment from her husband whom she said could not give her the respect she deserved because she was not learned.
“I was married for 10 years. I have gone through thick and thin in my husbands hands for lack of proper education. I am willing to go back to class to correct this,” she said.
She further revealed that she personally went to Mahiga Primary and asked to be allowed to sit in class with other pupils.
“I had stayed away for 10 years but when I did my first exams I emerged number one. I then passed with flying colors after sitting for my KCPE exams,” she said.
The ambitious mother would later go to Nairobi to work so as to support her children, but she came back two days ago to enroll for Form One and is staying with her friend called Beatrice Naliaka who supports her dream.
“I am feeling bad. Those I sat exams with are now in Form Two. I want to join them in school and I prefer St. Augustine Mlimani. I want to study hard and become a dentist,” she said.
Ms. Rida said she will appreciate any kind of support to help her finish her studies.
