A 29-year-old man has been sentenced to 310 years in prison after being found guilty of one count of rape and four counts of robbery with violence.
The man, Humphrey Shilisia, was accused of breaking into the houses of victims at night, robbing them, and raping some of them.
Shisilia was heavily pursued by police in August 2020 after he escaped from Langas Police Station in Eldoret.
He was later fished out of a hideout in Shinyalu, Kakamega County, after Kapsaret residents demonstrated, claiming that his escape was aided by a police officer.
