A 47-year-old man has been arrested after he drove away the ambulance used to take him to the hospital.
The man was taken to a Manhattan hospital in New York, United States, for observation.
According to the Associated Press (AP), the ambulance had been parked outside the facility unoccupied, unlocked, and with the ignition keys on.
The patient left the hospital at around 5:00 am and drove 40 kilometers before police tracked the vehicle using GPS. They tried to stop it, but the driver sped away.
The man was forced to stop when police deflated the vehicle using a tire-spiking device. He was arrested for grand larceny, criminal possession of stolen property, unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, and driving while intoxicated, among other charges.
