The leader of the Maendeleo Democratic Party, Joseph Hamisi Muganda, has died after he was involved in a grisly road accident.
The accident occurred this early morning at around 3:00 a.m. along the Kakamega-Mumias road near the River Sasala.
His sister, Education PS Beatrice Inyangala, broke the news of the untimely demise of her beloved brother through a tweet.
“Today I mourn with profound sadness the unbelievable demise of my brother in a road accident. In heaven and on earth, you will always be a most treasured family member, Joseph Hamisi Muganda,” Inyangala tweeted.
“My cherished brother, friend, and political mentor is no more. The pain is too much… you are the fourth of Mama’s sons to bid us farewell most abruptly and shockingly.”
A photo shared online showed the vehicle he was traveling in crashed.
Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa has condoled with the family of the deceased, who was a charismatic leader who inspired people around him.
“He will be remembered for his unwavering political stand from the time of his representation as Councilor in the defunct Local Authorities to the era of Devolved Governments.,” he said in a statement.
